What The Noblesse Does For 4th of July

Normally it would go as follows: Rai asks for Frankenstein to make tea. Frankenstein obeys and makes said tea, and hands a cup to Rai while he sits in his usual spot on the couch. Rai then stays absolutely silent, staring at nothing in particular while he drinks this tea, and that would carry on for the entire day if the highschoolers did not decide to visit Frankenstein's house.

But on the Fourth of July, however... 

After over-hearing Shinwoo, Ik Han, Yuna, Suyi at school that there would be something called "fireworks" at night that they wanted to go out and see, Rai, when he came home, asked Frankenstein what these "fireworks" were.

Frankenstein merely told him that when you lighted their fuse, after a few seconds, they put on a very nice show of different colors while making loud sounds. The "arial" form of these fireworks made huge booms and were the best kinds to watch.

Rai still didn't get this sort of description - but also figured no one else would, to be frank - and decided he would try and see these supposedly wondrous things tonight. He pieced together that arials would be launched into the sky, so he thought he would be able to see them from the balcony of Frankenstein's house.

So that night, Rai told Frankenstein he felt somewhat "sick" and wished to go out onto the balcony with his tea, instead of stay on the couch. After being interrogated heavily for what Frankenstein thought meant an early end of Rai's restored lifetime, Frankenstein (unwillingly) permitted him to go outside.

Now Rai waited with his teacup balancing on the balcony rail, staring quietly at the sky. It was 8, and still somewhat light outside. But still, Rai continued to sip at his tea while waiting for these fireworks to begin.

A half hour passed like that. Why have they not appeared? Rai wondered.

"Master?" Frankenstein called from inside, quickly approaching the balcony doors. "You're still out here?"

"I'm waiting," Rai replied calmly, now staring at the inside of his teacup, which was near empty. 

"For what?" It took only a second for Frankenstein to realize what exactly Rai was waiting for. "Master, you're waiting for the fireworks?"

"Yes. I heard Shinwoo and the others talk about them at school today... I would like to see them as well."

Frankenstein paused for a second. This early? He had to break it to his master carefully: "Ah, Master... I dread telling you this, and I'm sorry you waited so patiently, but fireworks don't start until it actually grows dark."

"Then I shall wait some more," Rai simply said. "But Frankenstein, please get me more tea while I wait." He faced Frankenstein for the first time while out here when he gave him his teacup.

"Yes, Master." Frankenstein left without any further objection and Rai faced the balcony rail again, leaning against it. Instead of staring at the sky without any reason like before, he now looked over the cityscape that was washed in whatever light was left after dusk. Trees swayed softly with the sudden light breeze that swept the area, ruffling Rai's raven black hair. He felt as though he should experience the outdoors, just like this, more often.

Rai admired the city scenery for five minutes before Frankenstein returned. "Master, your tea," he said as he stood beside Rai, handing him the refilled cup. "Would you like me to stay and wait with you, or would you prefer to be left alone?"

"Thank you, Frankenstein." Rai decided not to inquire why it took five minutes to refill a teacup. "You can stay. I would like to experience this with company now."

"I doubt I'll prove entertaining, but as you wish, Master."

Frankenstein was right when he said that. For an hour and a half, they waited in pure silence.

"It's dark now, Frankenstein," Rai stated, his teacup now empty. This time, however, he didn't ask to get it refilled since Frankenstein would have to leave in order to do so. With it dark like this, he could miss the fireworks.

"They're probably setting up the area, Master, please don't worry." Frankenstein sighed, sparing a glance over at Rai, who was now fixated on the stars.

He stopped staring at stars though and seemed to smile. A really subtle smile that is, but a smile all the same.

"M-Master?"

Rai stopped once he realized he'd been caught and said, "Ah, that's just something I normally say to you, isn't it? Whenever you're concerned about me using my powers to protect the children, Seira and Regis..."

Frankenstein thought for a moment and recalled those times. Every time Rai had used his powers, it had been for the better. Except for when he had battled with the Lord. 

And each one of those times, Frankenstein was the one who played the naggy mother role, worrying his ass off for his master. Rai was always the one to say the soothing words, "Don't worry" in those situations.

"I suppose that's true, bu-" before Frankenstein could finish, a loud boom was heard in front of them. Rai jumped and was now standing stalk-still, his hands fumbling to stabilize the teacup he had been holding, which had been about to fall.

No more than a mile away, a firework had appeared, and faded just before Rai could look. Once Rai had regained control of the rogue teacup, he stared in bewilderment at the sky as it continued light up and boom as more fireworks were launched.

"Frankenstein... the sky is exploding..." Rai's crimson eyes reflected not only the shock he felt, but also the fireworks that flashed before him.

At that Frankenstein burst out laughing, taking Rai's teacup away so it didn't risk falling in Rai's shaking hands. "Ah, no Master, those are the fireworks. Pretty, aren't they?" He asked.

"Yes... and very loud." Rai remarked flatly, but all the while remained in a trance at the fireworks he saw.

"That one matches your eyes." Frankenstein complimented as a red, palm tree shell firework appeared.

Rai had to blink to comprehend what Frankenstein said. By that time a new firework had appeared, this one a bright blue. "It does... but now that new one matches yours, Frankenstein." 

"Thank you, Master." Frankenstein was glad it grew dark, otherwise Rai would have seen a blush appear on the blonde male's face. "I've seen enough fireworks, I'll leave you to yourself." He then turned and began a quick trek into the house, about to close the balcony doors. 

"Wait, Frankenstein," Rai called over the loudness.

Almost escaped. Damn. "Yes, Master?" He turned 'round again and forced a smile onto his face. Now that he was bathed in light from the inside of the house, Rai could see the red tint that was on his face.

"Stay with me until they finish." It was as though Rai knew of Frankenstein's currently flustered state, and wished to rub it in even more.

Frankenstein sighed, but managed to soften his smile until it became genuine. Approaching the railing again, he set the teacup someways away and stood beside Rai. "I'll stay with you until you no longer need me, Master."

Those were the last words said between the two for the rest of the night, as both grew too indulged in the beauty of the fireworks, and in each other, to care for words.
